I love Marc Jacobs. Who does Marc Jacobs love?

Let's first start off by talking about how Marc Jacobs is the bad boy of fashion.  He started the first read-to-wear line for Louis Vuitton in '97.  Revamped the brand by collaborating wtih artists like Murakami (just one among others) to produce a brand new line of colorful monogrammed bags never seeen before by LV.

He's a bad boy in my eyes because
1) His designs are shocking, aggressive, and unapologetic.  Lives his life the same way.  He's openly gay and secure about his sexuality for the world to see.
2) He creates the unthinkable.  When he was VP of Perry Ellis - women's - he came up with with a grunge line.  Perry Ellis????  Maybe that brand was before my time, but I have no recollection of it being anywhere near grungy, however I respect him for taking the risk.

....Which brings be to this bag.  It emits an MJ aura, but it's hard to focus on that alone and disregard the signature Chanel-like quilting.  Shoulder flap-bags in general remind me of Chanel, but let's not credit them with the invention of the basic flap-bag.  I give that credit to the cavemen/woman who created it out of sheer need and utility.  The padlock troubles me also because I can't stop thinking of the Chloe The Paddington.  As a result, the studded stardust feature is the only thing on this bag that really makes me think Marc Jacobs - rebel chic

This baby was cool enough to make my head turn and useful enough to make me give it a second thought, but it slightly lacks character for me. Not at this price at least..

Check out the Beat Bag, available through Net-A-Porter for $1,150 or any fine department store really.
