Word of the day: MULBERRY

Noun
1. a tree with edible blackberry-like fruit, the leaves of which are used to feed silkworms

Basically Mulberry looks like raspberry, and it is also food for silkworms.  That's pretty important considering how much we like our silk.  It also has many health benefits (or so my mom insists when she tries to make me drink her herbal soup).  Lastly, there's some superstition shared by the Chinese and Japanese that Mulberry trees cannot be hit by lightening.  Riiight.  My point is, it's always been regarded as a special fruit with a history linked to textiles.

Today this is what Mulberry looks like.  I must've seen the same ad in all of my magazines - two lost girls in the forest with poofy hair and muted leopard Bayswater bags.  It's not even a terrible price at $995 at Net A Porter.  I am considering the brand but would like to know more before I invest.  At least the name resonates with me due to the yucky herbal soup I had to endure as a child.

 Ah, esquisite.
